Italian authorities on the weekend rescued some 3,700 illegal migrants who were sailing from North Africa to Italy in more than a dozen boats, the Coast Guard said in a communique on Sunday. They rescued 3,690 migrants in 17 separate operations.
With the onset of summer and good weather in the Mediterranean Sea between the North African coast and Italy, illegal migrants has increased. But sometimes some voyages end in tragedy.
